B.S. Applied Physics - Tongji University, Shanghai, China M.S. Condensed Matter Physics - Tongji University, Shanghai, China M.S. Medium Energy Physics - University of Houston, Houston, TX
I grew up in a coastal city of Wenzhou in Southeast of China. I went to Tongji University in Shanghai for my undergraduate study in Applied Physics and was later accepted into its graduate program without mandatory tests due to academic excellence. After obtained my Master in Condensed Matter Physics, I came to University of Houston to pursue my Ph. D. in Nuclear Physics. I have collaborated with hundreds of international scientists on particle physics experiments at Brookhaven National Lab in Long Island, NY and Jefferson Lab in Newport News, VA during my study. I worked on building detectors, setting up the instruments, collecting data and analyzing data using simulation and model building. In 2008, I was awarded American Physics Society M. Hildred Blewett Scholarship. During that time, I also taught physics lab at Hampton University in Hampton, VA. However, I didn't finish my dissertation due to family reasons.
In 2009, we relocated in Oak Ridge, TN and my oldest son, Jacob, started Kindergarten. Since then, I volunteered in classroom and later became a volunteer tutor at Oak Ridge High School. In 2013, I was selected as Teach Tennessee Commissioner’s Fellow and started teaching Math at Oak Ridge High School. I am endorsed in High School Math and Physics with ETS Recognition of Excellence on PRAXIS II tests in both subjects. That year, our youngest child, Yealiya, started Kindergarten.
Yealiya is a very sweet but strong girl. She earned herself a spot (top four in the nation) in the USA Climbing national team in Sport, Speed and Combined last year. Since she started climbing four years ago, rock climbing slowly become a big part of our family life. Jacob used to be Tennessee State Champion in Gymnastics for years and Owen used to swim, but now they all practice climbing, too. We mostly climb indoors but sometimes we also go outdoor climbing. In 2018 Summer, I brought my three children here in East Cobb for better climbing facilities and a better youth climbing program. Of course, a great school system was also a big moving motivation. Now Jacob and Owen are both in Wheeler Magnet program. I taught Algebra II in my first year at Wheeler and taught AP Physics 1 and AP Physics 2 last year. I am teaching these two courses and Magnet Physics this school year.
